About Us

Tim and Rebecca operate from Silverton Place, both have advanced skills in clinical and forensic psychology. We are conveniently co-located in rooms with the Brisbane Neuropsychology Clinic opposite Central station making us well placed to assist with referrals for a range of mental health, cognitive, and other functional difficulties. 

 

Trained at a postgraduate level, Tim and Rebecca have substantial experience in clinical and forensic assessment and treatment having worked in the Child Protection, Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service, and in private practice. We offer a range of services, and have experience in assessment, offence behaviour, mental disorder and complex mental health presentations.

We work with children, and adolescents, and adults and accept referrals through Medicare, private health insurers, Community Corrections, NDIS, Legal Aid, and private law firms.

Clinical & Forensic Psychologist 

Dr Tim Lowry

Tim is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, and member of the Australian Psychological Society and Australian Clinical Psychology Association. He is a Fellow of the APS Colleges of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists, and sits on Queensland and national professional psychology committees.

 

Tim has substantial experience in clinical assessment and treatment, having worked across both government mental health and private psychology practice settings since 2002. He has experience working with those with major mental disorders, histories of trauma, addictions (including gambling and substance use), and other psychological and interpersonal issues. Tim often works with individuals with complex and long term difficulties, including those with co-occurring mental and physical health issues, and with individuals with cognitive and intellectual impairments. He has also undertaken further comprehensive training in specific therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic psychotherapy and couple/family therapy, and works to develop individualised treatment approaches.

 

As a Forensic Psychologist, Tim has substantial experience working with individuals engaging in offending and problematic behaviours. He provides specialised assessment and treatment for those engaging in problematic behaviours including physical violence/aggression, problematic sexual behaviours and sexual deviance, stalking, fire-setting, threats and grievance driven behaviours, and child abuse and family/domestic violence. He has experience in completing assessment reports for government correctional, parole, and child safety services, pre-sentence and psychological reports for court, immigration, and family matters.

 

Tim holds the degrees of Master of Clinical Psychology and Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) from the University of Queensland, Master of Forensic Mental Health (Griffith University), and Master of Public Health (University of Newcastle). He has completed further advanced training in a range of therapeutic modalities and for specific populations. He provides supervision to psychologists and other mental health professionals, and also teaches at universities in Queensland.

Forensic & Health Psychologist 

Ms Rebecca Geddes

Rebecca is a Forensic and Health Psychologist, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is a Fellow of the APS College of Forensic Psychologists, and sits on the committee of the College of Forensic Psychologists, Queensland branch. In addition to her work as a psychologist, Rebecca is appointed to the Intermediaries Panel as an Officer of the Court to assist vulnerable witnesses to communicate with, and to be understood by the Court. 

As a Health Psychologist, Rebecca has experience working with veterans, and those diagnosed with mental health concerns, personality disorders and significant mental disorders. She is passionate about working with people who have experienced adverse life events, and with those with have struggled with substance use and other psychological, psychosocial and interpersonal difficulties. Rebecca is a trauma informed professional who adopts a compassionate and client-focused approach to her work with clients.

 

Rebecca's experience in forensic psychology has included work with the Queensland Courts,  Youth Justice, Queensland Corrective Service, Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service, and Child Safety Services. She has considerable experience working with high-risk/high-harm individuals who have engaged in physical, sexual or domestic violence, child maltreatment, and other problematic behaviour. She has completed a range of psychological assessments and reports, including presentence reports, risk assessments, weapons suitability assessments, and assessments for immigration, child safety and civil matters. 

Rebecca has postgraduate training in forensic psychology, health psychology, applied forensic psychology and forensic mental health. She also has a Masters degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. 

 

Rebecca has a special interest in investigative interviewing, offending, extremist ideology and working with personality disorder, ASD, ADHD, and psychosis. She works in collaboration with stakeholders and believes in a holistic approach to treatment.

Services

Rebecca and Tim offer a wide range of forensic, and clinical services across multiple areas of practice. Both are well established in their careers and are endorsed in multiple areas of practice. 

We offer a client focused approach, and deliver services in a timely, and compassionate manner.  We also offer supervision to other psychologists and allied health professionals and offer a range of consultancy and training options.

Assessment

Tim and Rebecca have experience in conducting specialist assessments, including screening for behavioural disorders, personality disorder and psychological wellbeing. The initial screening assessments can be completed remotely, however for a more comprehensive assessment in-person consultations are recommended.

Tim and Rebecca are experienced in preparing reports and delivering expert witness testimony in criminal cases and civil cases across a wide range of areas, including risk assessments (sexual and violence risk, domestic violence, stalking), pre-sentence reports, child safety matters, weapons licencing, QCAT, and personal injury matters.

Tim and Rebecca are experienced in treatment and intervention for a wide range of clinical and forensic issues. We provide evidence-based methods to understand and resolve problematic behaviour and symptoms of distress. Referrals are accepted through Medicare, NDIS, Queensland Corrective Services, private health insurers and directly through the client.

Tim and Rebecca offer supervision and professional development to psychologists in training, and to professionals from other forensic disciplines. We are available to deliver training, and education on matters relevant to clinical psychology, forensic psychology and forensic mental health.
